BEYOND THE CURTAINS

ARIANA

AN EVERLASTING IMPACT

Greetings everyone, I'm Ariana and I'm excited to share with you how DramaWay has made a big impact on my life. I’ve been attending classes at DramaWay for more than 10 years and it has been an incredible adventure! I started theatre training with our Founder & Executive Director, Danielle Strnad at the DramaWay program held at ErinoakKids. During those years, I attended their drama program along with various workshops and summer arts programs. Currently, I attend the Theatre Mississauga program where I get to perform in the Annual Arts Showcase event!

Did I mention I really love to perform? Being in the DramaWay classes has helped me in lots of different ways, including my confidence with public speaking and my self-esteem. I get to meet new friends and volunteers every year, which is always exciting. And I also get to keep up lots of friendships with some of the other performers like me who have been with DramaWay for a long time.

DramaWay programs have definitely made me feel a lot more confident, and helped me to advocate for myself. I now love expressing myself in different places in my life. Like when I graduated with honours from the “Community Integration through Co-Operative Education” (CICE) Program at Humber College. And when I was a member of a Special Olympics swimming team. I was also able to use the performance skills I learned at DramaWay when I participated in a six-part documentary series called, “Employable Me” and found employment through that. And recently, I’ve been feeling really confident about applying my skills in my new job at Fortinos.

I’m so happy to be a part of the DramaWay team, and to celebrate my successes with my other friends in the program. I can’t wait for the Annual Arts Showcase coming up on June 8th & 9th, where I will be playing the role of Batgirl! Come watch me as I go up against the villains to save the day!
