Hey there, everyone! I'm Matthieu, and I'm excited to share with you how DramaWay Productions has helped me build skills and confidence that I’ve applied to all aspects of my life and work. I've been a part of DramaWay Productions for several years and I’ve been part of the Theatre and Dance programs. This year, I will be dancing my heart out in the Dance Showcase in June!
When I first joined DramaWay, I didn’t realize how much it would help me gain skills I could apply to so many things outside of our classes.
One of the biggest ways DramaWay has impacted my life is through employment opportunities. A fellow performer and family I met through DramaWay helped connect me with not one, but two jobs that I now have! It's really cool to see how a supportive community like DramaWay can lead to these kinds of opportunities.
On top of my two jobs, DramaWay has helped me with essential skills that I use every day in my community involvement. DramaWay has shown me how important communication is and helped me feel more confident with conflict resolution, which has been really useful and important when I am dealing with colleagues and customers at my jobs. DramaWay has also given me lots of guidance with my problem solving skills and coping skills, so if there are any difficult situations that come up at work I feel like I have the self-confidence to deal with them and resolve them. Figuring out these things on my own has helped me feel more independent and self-assured in all my relationships.
I’m really grateful to the teachers and facilitators at DramaWay because they always showed me a lot of support and help while I worked on all these skills. They gave me individual attention and guidance when I ended it, and it has helped me learn a lot of important strategies that I use in my life and my work. I know I’ve grown as a performer (and dancer!) but I’ve also grown a lot as a person and I am so proud of the work that I do. I’m so excited for the upcoming Showcases, and all the other adventures in store!
