EMPATHY & RESPECT

Hi everyone, I’m Grace and I want to share with you how DramaWay has made a really positive impact on my life. I've been part of DramaWay for about 12 years now and it’s been such a fun experience!

I started attending DramaWay’s Drama program when it was held at ErinoakKids back at their old Mississauga site. I remember the days of attending the Drama camps and movin’ and groovin’ with the music therapist and our Founder, Danielle. I’m currently attending the Social & Life Skills program, where I am learning to manage my emotions, prepare for the workforce and work on my independent living skills.

DramaWay has a way of making me shine in a very positive way. I love having a place where I can sing, dance, and perform with amazing friends. DramaWay isn’t just about performing, it’s helped me develop lots of other skills too, like patience and listening to others to make sure that everyone gets a turn and feels respected. These are important skills that I use in lots of other parts of my life.

Outside of my involvement with DramaWay, I'm also super engaged in my community. I volunteer at a preschool three days a week, where I get to interact with children and help out in various ways. I also attend a day program twice a week, where I help other participants and contribute positively to the community. I really feel like all the skills I’ve developed in DramaWay, like empathy and respecting others,  have made me a stronger volunteer and community member.

I don’t know what I would do without DramaWay! It’s been such a fun place to get to be myself and feel creative. I’ve participated in several Annual Showcase events, performing in “The Hopeful Hearts”, “A School for Stars” and “Galaxy Trek of the Star Guardians” to name a few shows. I feel like I have so much more confidence in myself and in my abilities, thanks to these awesome experiences I’ve got to share with my friends and the DramaWay volunteers and staff.

DramaWay has truly changed my life for the better. So much so that my Dad agreed to serve as one of the Board Members! Cool right? Well, all this to say, I'm so grateful for everything DramaWay and “D” has done for me, and I look forward to every new class, and of course the Showcase in June. Peace Out!
