PURSUING MY DREAMS
Hey everyone! I'm Betsy, and I'm excited to share how DramaWay has helped boost my confidence, fostered my independence, and encouraged me to pursue my passions both on stage and in my community.
I joined DramaWay in the Fall of 2023 and I have been participating in the Theatre and Song Writing classes. Both classes have taught me to express myself creatively and confidently, and I’ve definitely noticed the boost in my self-esteem! DramaWay has given me the confidence to pursue my interests and engage with others in meaningful ways. Since joining DramaWay, I've also experienced a lot of growth in my self-advocacy skills. I'm becoming more confident in advocating for myself and pursuing opportunities that relate to my interests and passions. Like participating in cooking classes, pursuing my passion for photography, or attending overnight camps in the summer.
In my community outside of DramaWay, I attend Kohai Life to work on my life skills, and recently had a great time completing the Food Services & Hospitality Leadership Program with OWLware Ltd. I also recently had the opportunity to expand my culinary skills by taking cooking classes in Barbados! I also completed a program through the JCC to nurture my passion for photography and I'm excited to share that I've sold my first photographic work! On top of these cool achievements, DramaWay has also provided me with a supportive and inclusive community of amazing friends that I’ve been able to make through the classes. I am happy to build and nurture these friendships during class time, and to continue forming deeper connections outside of class time too. I'm immensely grateful for the opportunities DramaWay has provided me. Come check me out in the Showcase event this June where I’ll be playing the role of Spider-Woman in our “Superheroes, Unite” show!
