Julianna Armstrong
Julianna Armstrong has had a passion for theatre throughout her life. She majored in Musical Theatre at Victoria School of the Performing Arts in Edmonton (1996). Julianna moved to Toronto in 1997 to attend Canada's renowned vocal jazz program at Humber College. While stu vocal jazz she continued to pursue her theatrical interests. She began teaching musical theatre, puppeting and improvisation classes for Arts Express in 1999. In 2001 she was introduced to the UC Follies at University of Toronto and played the role of Mrs. Paroo in the spring production of 'Music Man'. In 2002 she joined the Follies production team as a producer and assistant director for 'Bye Bye Birdie'.
Later in 2002, Julianna's love of teaching a sense of adventure brought her to Bangkok, Thailand where she worked as an English, Drama, and music teacher for David Ampro English House. In the evenings Jules sang back-up in 'The Associates Soul Band' at various hotels and nightclubs in Bangkok.
In 2004 Julianna returned to Toronto to continue her career as an educator of the arts and has thrown herself into the field. She has taught drama, dance and music classes at several community living projects and high schools in Scarborough through her work as a drama facilitator for Drama Way as well as directing several musical productions including 'A Sackful of Feathers' at She'arim Hebrew Day School and 'Cinderella' at Martingrove Montessori. She continues to teach improv and direct for Arts Express, most recently 'A Chorus Line' and 'West Side Story'.
Julianna currently works as a drama facilitator for Drama Way and Arts Express, teaching drama, musical theatre, dance and puppeting to a wide range of students across the city. Julianna's passion for teaching and the arts is evident in every class. Her energy and enthusiasm encourages all of her students to step up into the spotlight and see the great things they are all capable of.
Juliannas’ love of teaching has led to the creation of 'Jules of the Party'.
