Come Celebrate with Us!
Festival of Arts and Creativity
To celebrate Luminato, Toronto Festival of Arts and Creativity, DramaWay presents six original dramatic and dance performances by over 80 young adults with special needs from across the GTA. An exciting exhibit of original work by DramaWay’s visual artists will showcased at these events.
DramaWay Contributes to the Celebration!
On June 8 & 9, DramaWorks, a DramaWay program, will showcase the unique artistic talents of youths and adults with special needs. The original script was developed as a collective work with writers weaving in the interests of DramaWork’s unique performers. This diverse show includes a variety of dance sequences, physical theatre elements, original comedic commercials, touching abstract theatrical pieces, and solo vocal performances.

On June 10, DramaWay’s RhythmWorks program will feature two troupes of dancers of all abilities performing choreographed selections. The program will also feature a short film developed by DramaWay’s MovieWorks class, a unique program developing the film acting techniques of young adults of all abilities. From June 8 – 10, a visual arts showcase featuring the work of visual artists with special needs will be open to the public. As Toronto celebrates the diverse artistic community across the GTA, let us acknowledge the exceptional artistic achievements of our special needs community.
At a time when funding is scarce, attendance at these productions will help ensure next year’s continuation of DramaWay’s programs, offering life-changing opportunities for young Torontonians with special needs.
“At DramaWay, we are always seeking new, meaningful ways to bridge the gap between our actors and the community. At this time of year, community members are enjoying the arts in Toronto, and our actors are no different. We are excited about our variety-style show ‘Beautiful, Just Beautiful: The Awaited Arrival,’ a reminder that all individuals have the right to be heard and to fulfill their potential.” – Danielle Strnd, company director
