Canadian singer songwriter Justin Hines has made a successful career as a musician, but also as a fundraiser. As a wheelchair user with a rare joint disorder Justin aims to reach his full potential on a daily basis, letting no challenges stand in his way! He’s sung at many different events, released multiple albums and even started his own foundation. Come see Justin in concert!
There will be snacks for purchase as well as a raffle and other fun stuff!
Tickets are $30 with half the cost of all tickets sold by DramaWay going directly back into DramaWay programming.
With yearly costs increasing for our year end productions and class supplies, this fundraiser will help DramaWay continue to provide quality creative arts programming. The concert will be a 7:30pm at 190 Railside Road (3 lights west of Victoria Park Ave. off of Lawrence Ave. on the southeast corner. DramaWay’s own Jason Melville will be participating in a panel discussion confronting the label “disability”: Does it obstruct artists from expressing their voice? Do developmental and intellectual disabilities restrict access to education, materials and the practice of art? A film director, a documentary star, and a visual artist will also be participating in the discussion, which will be moderated by Anne McGuire (PhD student and TA, Disability Studies, U of T.) You may know Jason from last year’s production “The Awaited Arrival” where he shone as the Host. Jason has also appeared in many other DramaWorks shows over the years.
This series of events is being presented by the University of Toronto’s Hart House. All events are free, and there are other fun things to check out, like a film screening at 6pm, a concert at 8pm and a visual art show!
